A simple typo reportedly resulted in millions of emails associated with the US military being sent to Mali, a West African country allied with Russia. According to a report from the Financial Times, the duration of this fiasco was as long as ten years. As to how this happened: Apparently instead of appending the military’s .MIL domain to their recipient’s email address, people frequently typed .ML, the country identifier for Mali, by mistake.
