Phishing attacks on businesses increases: Report

The latest Cyber Signals report by Microsoft has revealed that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting business email compromise (BEC). The report analysed 35 million BEC attempts from April 2019 to April 2022 and identified a 38% increase in Cybercrime-as-a-Service activity, indicating the growing business email threat. BEC operators use everyday messages, including emails, social media and text messages, to trick people into releasing sensitive information, such as financial data. Microsoft recommended businesses use cloud apps with AI capabilities and secure payment platforms to prevent BEC attacks, as well as automate identity governance to prevent lateral movement of information.
