Google Launches Campaign to Pressure Apple to ‘Fix Texting’, Adopt RCS Messaging

Google, the company that develops the Android operating system, is asking Apple to switch RCS technology for messaging. The company claims that this will enhance the cross-platform texting, and will not change the experience for iPhone users. Apple currently uses the SMS and MMS technology. It is said to be missing typing indicators, read receipts, and encryption.
