Huawei Mate 20 Pro's AI finishes a symphony from two centuries ago

Schubert wrote two movements of his Symphony No. 8 back in 1822, but left it unfinished. Huawei has decided that 197 years of waiting is long enough and has tapped into the AI powers of the Mate 20 Pro to deliver the final two movements. The dual NPU of the phone was used to analyze the timbre, pitch and meter of the existing movements in order to generate a melody for the next two. That melody was then used by Emmy award-winning composer Lucas Cantor to arrange an orchestral score. The finished symphony will be performed live at Cadogan Hall in London on February 4.
